Playhouse set to release new album “Broken And The Damned;" Powerful, New Single, ”Black Clouds”

Having completed their new album, “Broken And The Damned”, working once again with legendary Canadian producer Kevin Jardine (Faith No More, Mastodon, Run DMC, Cypress Hill, Anthrax, Korn, Sepultura, Beastie Boys, 3rd Bass, Men Without Hats). This new material will appeal to the bands core fans, but will also be expressive and inviting to new listeners as well. The new album is tighter and picks up right where “Dancing With Funerals” left off. The album opens with the powerful new single “Black Clouds,” which packs the punch on a heavier edge, but still has that catchy, rock groove that has been a staple of Playhouse for almost 4 decades.

Vocalist Peter Cat On Writing “Black Clouds:”

“Black Clouds” is a song that I started writing on my couch. I brought fragments of the song to the band and our producer and they brought it to life! I suppose it’s a reflection of the times we are in; a revelation to always let the light shine through the dark moments that we all find ourselves in.“

With the band’s most recent release, “Dancing At Funerals,” receiving high praise from the media and fans alike, there was a drive within the band to harness the success of “Dancing….” They decided that they wanted to write new music that captured all of the emotion that the previous album had, but to take that emotion even further with the new material.

The band believes that they have done that with “Broken And The Damned” as vocalist Peter Cat explains:

“The new album has exceeded my expectations! A total team effort! The songs came out beautifully! Can’t wait for the world to hear it! Also I’m so thrilled to have re-signed to RFL entertainment! We have built something truly special with the label and consider them family and the only people we trust with our passion “

Danny Williams, bass player and songwriter:

“I think the fans will agree this is a worthy follow up to our last album, Dancing at Funerals. And getting to play with drummer Sam Harrisson again, after all these years has been amazing. It's the best we've ever sounded and the songs are some of the best we've ever written.I can't wait for all our fans to hear it and to play these songs live. “

The band has inked a new deal with RFL Music Entertainment (Formally RFL Records,) a deal that brings a further commitment to the relationship of artist and label.

RFL Entertainment CEO, Jon Marchewka (Marhefka) explains:

“We are extremely happy to launch the next phase of RFL with Playhouse as our inaugural act.” “Having worked with these guys for 2 years and their album “Dancing At Funerals,” we established a great relationship together. There is a mutual respect for what each of us does. With professionals like Playhouse, we know that what drives them is a willingness to do what it takes to be successful. The band has been together for 37 years and that says it all. They are really great guys and this was a signing that was just natural.”

RFL Entertainments Doug Franklin Expresses similar excitement about the signing:

“When Jon and I decided to get back to it with RFL, I knew that Playhouse was one of the bands we'd both be excited or should I say ECSTATIC to work with. This is a very exciting time for me, personally. RFL and Playhouse! WE ARE BACK!

Kevin Jardine producer, guitarist of SLAVE ON DOPE and owner of Uplift recording studio

“There’s not many times that I hear rough demos of songs and know that once they work their way through the production process, they’re gonna be some of the best I’ve worked on.”

Formed in 1987, five high school friends set out to be the biggest rock band to ever come out of Canada. With a reputation for their high energy shows and big anthems, they quickly began filling every club & theater that they played.  The band was destined for global success, selling thousands of copies of their two EP’s; 1988’s ‘Little Monster‘ and 1990’s ‘Tongue, Tied & Twisted‘. Just like so many bands in the early 90’s, the success that seemed to be theirs for the taking never fully manifested and after almost a decade of decadence and steady touring in support of such bands as Extreme, Killer Dwarfs, Lee Aaron and Harem Scarem, the band decided to call it quits. It was an end of an era………but some things never fully come to an end.

Fast forward to 2016 – the band reunites and enters the studio with veteran producer and guitarist of Slaves on Dope; Kevin Jardine, to record new songs. In 2017, for the 1st time in 25 years, Playhouse returned to the stage with a sold out comeback show in Montreal, Canada. Many high profile shows followed, including opening slots for The Dead Daisies, L.A. Guns, Buckcherry, Dizzy Reed’s Hookers & Blow, Helix, and Warrior Soul. The band also releases their first album ‘The Rock N’ Roll Circus‘ to critical acclaim in 2018 and followed that up with a single and video, ‘Revolution Tonight‘, in 2020..

The new album "Broken And The Damned," is set for a November 8th release date. The first single, “Black Clouds,” will be available on September 20th across all streaming services
